TAN Bee Thiam is a Singaporean producer, director, and founding member of 13 Little Pictures, a trailblazing film collective spotlighted by MUBI as “an important voice in the increasingly vibrant world of Southeast Asian cinema.” He has produced over ten feature films that have premiered at major international festivals including Berlinale, IFFR, Locarno, Venice, and BIFF, and have been distributed worldwide via Netflix, Disney+, and MUBI. His recent credits include Small Hours of the Night (IFFR 2024), Demons (BIFF 2018, Berlinale 2019), and Revenge of the Pontianak (2019), the highest-grossing Malay-language Singaporean film in five decades, sold to Netflix. He also directed Tiong Bahru Social Club (BIFF 2020, Disney+), and produced Fundamentally Happy (PÖFF, MUBI).
Tan is an alumnus of Berlinale Talents, EAVE, and Rotterdam Lab. He also executive-produced Stranger Eyes (Venice 2024) and associate-produced Tomorrow Is a Long Time (Berlinale 2023). His upcoming slate includes The Burning Giants and Strange Root. Tan brings deep international co-production experience and a strong commitment to socially engaged auteur cinema.
